There are many great resources that provide high-quality content and interactive instruction available for use in your courses.  However, it is important to understand the differences between free content that can be used in your courses, and "open" content that may be licensed to allow reproduction, revision, and other possible uses.

  • For free content, the library is a great place to start.  You can search our databases for ebooks, articles, and videos that can be used in your course and often embedded right into Canvas. While not technically "OER," students can access the content with their MEID and password.  See the file below for instructions on how to link to or embed library content.

  • For "open" content, check out the PC Library's guide on Open Educational Resources.  The guide includes lists of repositories of open content, as well as a list of open textbook sites.  In addition, there is open content available through Maricopa Open Digital Press and Canvas Commons.
