There are many great resources that provide high-quality content and interactive instruction available for use in your courses.  However, it is essential to understand the distinctions between free content that can be used in your courses and "open" content that may be licensed to permit reproduction, revision, and other potential uses.

  • For free content, the library is a great place to start.  You can search our databases for ebooks, articles, and videos that can be used in your course and often embedded right into Canvas. While not technically "OER," students can access the content with their MEID and password.  Refer to the file below for instructions on linking to or embedding library content.

  • For "open" content, check out the PC Library's guide on Open Educational Resources.  The guide includes lists of repositories of open content, as well as a list of open textbook sites.  Additionally, open content is available through Maricopa Open Digital Press and Canvas Commons.
